This is a Vintage 1959 Fender Jazzmaster Guitar Pre CBS Leo Fender Era Guitar in very clean condition.
The guitar is really a great find and a rare find in this condition. It's not mint but very clean for its age.
The neck on this guitar is amazing. The slab Brazilian Rosewood finger board is nicely figured and has its original clay dots. The body is nice and resonant and only bears some slight paint wear.
The pickgaurd has shrunk over the years and has made the slider switch almost impossible to move. One of roller volumes is also squeezed by the shrinkage. The pots, pickups, and electronics are all original. The pot codes are dated around the 26th week of 1959 and all of the nail holes under the pickgaurd are in all of the right places. I dare not take the pickgaurd off again because it was a nightmare getting it back on when I took it off to verify its authenticity. Those of you who are knowledgeable in vintage Fenders know what I mean.
Both pickups work perfectly and are still nice and strong sounding. This is really great guitar in as found condition. It will need a set up and the pickguard issue needs to be addressed. I bought this guitar with no strings. The only thing I have done to the guitar was add strings, replace the missing strap button on the upper horn, replaced the saddle screw on the high E saddle and put on a replacement switch tip. Everything else is verified and found to be original.
In its current condition the guitar plays and sounds great with no string buzzing or fret-outs. The frets still have a lot of life in them and the neck is nice and straight.
